You should also be particularly aware of the potential hazards of being cut by the saw, hit by the timber and exposure to noise and vibration. Certification: Candidates who successfully complete the integrated NPTC City & Guilds assessment will receive a Certificate of Competence for Level 3 Safe Use of a MEWP and those who attend the training day will receive a Land Skills Certificate of Attendance. This course is ideal for domestic or occasional users who wish to learn the essential operation and maintenance of a chainsaw, for example you may have an area of Woodland at home that you want to manage. Whilst this may be suitable to some learners that only use a chainsaw as a minor part of their role, this course is not ideal if you are using a chainsaw in a professional capacity. If you are going to use the chainsaw in a commercial capacity (i.e. work) and not on your own private land, it is a requirement that you hold a regulated qualification to satisfy the Health and Safety Executive (HSE). A Lantra occasional/domestic user course that provides training only would not be suitable as a pre-requisite if you wish to proceed to other training/qualifications such as Felling & Processing Trees up to 380mm.
