Pre-requisites: Candidates must hold PA1 Safe Use of Pesticides or 0216-49 Principles of Safe Handling & Application of Pesticides before attending this course
Pesticides are very widely and successfully used in land-based industries, but they can be potentially harmful substances, therefore it is essential that they are handled, applied and stored correctly, therefore making training essential.
This course for Pesticides – Special Category is to accommodate any item of pesticide application equipment for which there is no category in the existing suite of schedules (PA2 – PA13). Typical examples of equipment which would qualify for a Safe Application of Pesticides Using Specialist Equipment assessment would be:-
- Automated glasshouse sprayers
- Multi-modal applicators on potato planters
- Rail-track bankside spraying modules
However, it is recognised that innovative application equipment is always being developed and there are many more examples where Safe Application of Pesticides Using Specialist Equipment will be appropriate. For example OPM electro-static spraying machine.
Who is it for?
This special category course is for anyone who use pesticide application equipment for which there is no category in the existing suite of schedules as part of their work. You also should have attended the Safe Use of Pesticides course.
This will vary on the type of equipment.
This course culminates in an independent assessment for a City & Guilds Level 2 Award in Safe Application of Pesticides Using Specialist Equipment (QCF)
